Regional crops in all their abundance | Harvest exhibition starts on September 24
20. September 2022
Special exhibition from September 24 to October 3, 2022 in the Winter Hall in cooperation with the Bayerische Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft (LfL) and TAGWERK Förderverein e.V.
Few people are aware of how many varieties of fruits, vegetables and grains have traditionally been grown in Bavaria. The Harvest Festival exhibition provides an insight into the regional treasures of our cultivated plants.
One focus of this year’s exhibition is the variety of local grains and the products made from them. Which grains are used to make my breakfast? What are the processing steps to the finished bread on my plate? These questions are illuminated by TAGWERK e.V. as part of the Thanksgiving exhibition.
As a further focus, the State Institute for Agriculture (LfL) presents the topic of “orchard meadows”, a particularly environmentally friendly form of fruit cultivation. From the diversity of cultivated apples, over 100 typical regional varieties will be presented. Visitors will be able to taste a selection of them directly on site.
Those who do not know which apple tree is in their own garden can have their variety named by an expert. The pomologist Friedrich Renner will identify apples brought along on the second weekend of the exhibition on October 1 and 2, 2022.
