Flower Power Festival Munich 2023: Celebrating nature in the city

Gasteig, Kunsthalle München, Botanical Garden and BIOTOPIA are joining forces to launch a citywide festival centered around the flower in 2023.
Celebrating nature in the city. This is the motto of next year’s Flower Power Festival Munich 2023, which will take place from February 3 to October 7. After the nationally sensational Faust Festival 2018, it is to be the second major event in the Bavarian capital, in which everyone can participate, whether large institutions, small associations, renowned cultural institutions, well-known parks or private initiatives. The starting point is the exhibition “Flowers Forever. Flowers in Art and Culture,” which will be on display at the Kunsthalle München from February 3 to July 9, 2023.
At the Flower Power Festival Munich 2023 everything revolves around the flower, literally but also figuratively. Science, sustainability, plant diversity, garden art, climate change, biodiversity, aesthetics, quality of life – these and many more are conceivable topics that can be staged, be it with exhibitions, workshops, walks, theater performances, installations and more. Indoors, outdoors and digitally are the playgrounds of the festival.
Mitmachen: Blumen sammeln und trocknen
Auch diejenigen, die weder einem Verband oder einer Organisation angehören, und zunächst denken, keine Ideen oder Möglichkeiten einer Beteiligung zu haben, können mitwirken. Ganz einfach zum Beispiel an einem einzigartigen Projekt. Denn nicht weniger als 200 000 getrocknete Blumen benötigt die britische Künstlerin Rebecca Louise Law für ihre Installation „Blütenboden“, die ab 3. Februar 2023 als einer der Höhepunkte der Ausstellung „Flowers Forever“ in der Kunsthalle München zu sehen sein wird. Hierfür braucht sie das Engagement und die Mithilfe der Münchner:innen, die Blumen sammeln und trocknen, und somit Teil dieses großen Gemeinschaftsprojekts werden. Die Blumen können bereits ab 25. März 2022 bis zum Herbst in der Kunsthalle abgegeben werden.
