Plants and their microcosm – public photo competition
As part of the photo competition ‘Plants and their microcosm’, all nature-loving photographers aged 13 and over were invited to submit creative photos of the interplay between plants and microbes from May to August 2024.
The competition was looking for photo motifs that show either a beneficial or harmful interaction between plants and microorganisms, for example in the form of plant diseases or symbioses. Ideally, these should be close-up or macro shots in nature, which represent an interesting perspective on the competition theme.
The expert jury selected four winning pictures as well as one special award from around 50 entries. The winning photographs can be seen in large format in this exhibition. Inspired by the diversity of the submissions, further competition images are exhibited digitally. Many thanks to all participants!
The photo competition was organised by the TRR356 PlantMicrobe research network with kind support of the Botanical Garden Munich-Nymphenburg.
