Ikebana – Japanese flower art | special exhibition
Special exhibition of Ikebana Sogetsu München e.V. about the Japanese art of flower arranging.
Exhibition about the art of arranging flowers
Ikebana is a Japanese art to create an artistic arrangement from a few flowers and branches that impresses with its clarity.
Ikebana (literally “living flowers”) means to bring flowers to life and give them a new life. When the Ikebana artist takes a flower or other plant from nature and places it into a vase or dish, he or she does not only keep it alive with water, but also gives it a new life as part of a piece of art giving it a more beautiful appearance than nature gave it. Shape, size, colour and lines of the plants contribute to the harmony of an Ikebana arrangement.
Ikebana arrangements can be created
- by anyone
- at any time
- anywhere
- with any material
(Sofu Teshigahara, Gründer der Sogetsu-Schule)
Ikebana offers everyone who is interested the opportunity
- to learn design rules and techniques for arranging plants
- to develop one’s own creativity
- to find peace and relaxation by arranging plants.
