„Lucid Recollections / Transparent appearances“ – photographs by Anne Mason-Hoerter
Photo exhibition in the Green Room of the greenhouses
The photo exhibition “Lucid Recollections” by Canadian artist Anne Mason-Hoerter invites us to reflect on how memories develop and influence our emotional connection to nature.
Hoerter’s special technique consists of dissecting plants and superimposing their photographed components. Using up to 100 individual photos, she creates a mosaic that reflects the distortion of memory as well as the breathtaking beauty and fragility of nature. Her works touch on important questions: Will our visual memories become even more important in a rapidly changing world? Can we rely on the accuracy of these memories that shape our understanding of nature?
About the artist
Anne Mason-Hoerter studied photography at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and is known for her extreme manipulation techniques and unconventional depictions of botanical subjects. Her work is often described as straddling the line between reality and surrealism.
